What is the Site Ambassadors Program?
The Volunteer-Site Ambassadors provide friendly assistance, enabling
people to find their way around the hospital, clinics, wards and other
facilities as required. All Site Ambassadors are trained and easily
recognised in their uniform.
The Volunteer Programme was initiated in 2003 to provide a quality service
for all people visiting ADHB sites at Auckland City Hospital/Te Papakainga
Atawhai Campus and Greenlane Clinical Centre/Maungakiekie Campus. Site
Ambassadors bring with them a caring, sincere attitude and enjoy meeting and
directing patients, visitors and their families.
Site Ambassadors come in for one shift each week for four hours. However,
some volunteers prefer to do several shifts each week and that is welcomed.
Volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment of six months. This is due
in part to the role itself, as it may take awhile to become familiar with
the sites and changes happening, but also we need a strong committed team.
We provide Volunteer-Site Ambassadors with free car parking, travel
allowance, uniform and training. We also organise social occasions to say
thanks to the team, this also provides an opportunity to meet other
volunteers in the programme.
